Social Value | Severn Trent Sites
Team GEDA have been busy in partnership with Severn Trent Water facilitating Social Value initiatives over the past few months across the Midlands.
Supporting Our Communities: Social Value
At GEDA, we are proud to support the communities surrounding our work for our valued client, Severn Trent. Across several projects, our teams have been actively contributing their time, skills and resources to create meaningful, lasting impact.
Supporting Local Families Through Shepshed Foodbank
Our staff continue to volunteer at the Shepshed Foodbank based in the Glenmore Centre, a familiar place to our teams through many visits. From restocking shelves to preparing and packing orders, we are always glad to contribute to an organisation that plays such a vital role in supporting local families. Their commitment to the community is truly inspiring, and we are proud to assist in their ongoing efforts.
Welcoming Future Engineers to High Tor
GEDA recently welcomed students from Loughborough University to our High Tor site for a second visit. These visits offer students valuable insight into live construction environments and strengthen our connection with the next generation of industry professionals.
Restoring the Pond at Mount St Bernard Abbey
Earlier this year, with the help of G&V Gallagher, we restored an overgrown pond at Mount St Bernard Abbey Monastery. The transformation has been remarkable. The pond is now fully replenished, the surrounding area cleared, and we have donated new benches to create a peaceful space for visitors to sit and enjoy the scenery. Updated photographs show fantastic progress!
Building a New Outdoor Stage for Kegworth Primary School
As part of our Social Value commitments, Team GEDA designed & purchased materials and built a brand-new outdoor stage for a local school.
The ribbon cutting was a memorable moment, along with the school’s Chimps and Flamingos classes. The pupils even performed “Wind the Bobbin Up” for our team, a special touch that made the project even more rewarding. The students also created a beautiful thank you card, which we are delighted to display.
Collaborative Volunteering at Steps Conductive Education Centre
A team of 11 volunteers from Severn Trent Water and GEDA spent a full day at Steps Conductive Education Centre, repainting all internal doors, fire doors and the wooden plinths used for children’s mobility exercises.
As the Centre receives no government funding, support like this is invaluable. This was our second project with Steps, following the completion of their sensory construction shed, and we hope to continue assisting with their fantastic work.
Supporting Avery Fields Community Foundation
GEDA made a donation to the Avery Fields Community Foundation as part of our Social Value commitments at Hagley Road.
This contribution directly helps the Bournville Minis & Juniors, covering membership costs for families who need it most. We were delighted to present the Foundation with a cheque in support of their ongoing work.
Supporting Green Life Innovations
GEDA supported Green Life Innovations.
We’ve donated two loads to top up their planters for the Spring. We also shared hoarding and timber posts from our Nottingham Road site, which their students put to good use to build a brand-new stock shelter.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to creating genuine Social Value across all Severn Trent projects. Whether through volunteering, community partnerships, educational engagement or environmental restoration, we remain dedicated to delivering positive change where it is needed most.
Special thanks to everyone who supported our community initiatives. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and will leave a lasting positive impact on the communities in which we work.
