Behavioural Safety Stand Down Event – Cork, 28th February 2023

GEDA’s Behavioural Safety Event for Uisce Éireann (formerly Irish Water) took place yesterday in Midleton Park Hotel, Cork.

Our Midleton LIHAF, Ballyvolane PWSA, Askeaton and Knockvilla PS sites downed their tools and paused work for the morning to attend this stand down event. We welcomed our client Uisce Éireann alongside subcontractors who work with us on our Growth and Development Framework.

During the presentation we discussed all things Behavioural Safety. This included reflecting on the actions of our site teams, promoting their innovation and discussing ways we plan to continuously improve across the board.

Our special guest and keynote speaker James Gorry delivered an impactful presentation on the importance of following safety behaviours, and the possibly life-changing consequences of failing to do so. We thank James for sharing his personal story and moving words of inspiration.

GEDA’s workplace culture undisputedly places Health and Safety as the number one priority on site. This means taking care of our mental health and emotional wellbeing, too. We concluded the event by sharing resources for Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and Construction Industry Helpline – two fantastic services that provide emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

We want to give a big thank you to all those involved in making the event a success, to our guests Uisce Éireann, James Gorry and valued supply chain members.
