We are currently seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor Placement Student to join our Civils team. This is a great opportunity to get first-hand experience with a successful and growing construction company.

 

The Role

  • Providing support to both quantity surveyors and commercial manager in negotiating and appointing sub-contractors to scheme.
  • Managing sub-contractor package’s through from appointment to final account.
  • Supporting submissions of all valuations and variations on schemes.
  • Identify cost issues.
  • Assisting with commercial matters with clients.

 

The Person

  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise and work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced office environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS office software.

 

The Experience

  • Working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Working on a water infrastructure projects, you will play a key role within the team through programme management, subcontractor management and client engagement. There will be the opportunity to continue to develop professionally with the support of the Framework team.

The Role

  •  Reading, interpreting and providing clear communication of construction drawings on site for layouts, material measurements etc.
  •  Ensuring that the setting out is accurate, providing precise lines, levels and reference points on site.
  •  Effectively influencing the progress on sites and ensuring programme deadlines are met.
  •  Developing effective relationships and dealing with clients and subcontractors.
  • Working closely with all other team members to ensure that the Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety aspects of the work are adhered to during your project phase on site.
  • Continually developing your knowledge in the industry, communicating and implementing best practice guidance to line managers and relevant staff.
  • Maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements, policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other duties as necessary.

  • Must be able to use their own initiative, taking accountability and responsibility for a project from start to finish.
  • Deadline driven, instilling motivation in the team to hit key targets.

The Experience

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or other industry related qualification with 5+ years relevant on the ground experience.
  • Experience within the water or the utilities sector is essential
  • Numeracy and IT skills including MS Office, Word and Excel.
  • A full valid driving licence.

Due to continuing success and growth of our Civil Engineering team, we have fantastic new opportunities for Civil Site Managers. You will play a pivotal role working on a major water infrastructure framework across the Munster province. Your key focus areas will involve the management of framework programmes and the supply chain along with client liaison.

The Role

  • Ensure adherence to the health and safety and environmental policies and ensure safe systems of work are planned and implemented on assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s quality procedures including production of the project quality plan and completion of the necessary project documentation.
  • Attend sub-contractor and client meetings as required, ensuring a positive working relationship is established and maintained, acting as an ambassador for the Company at all times.
  • Ensure detailed project programmes are drawn up and adhered to on all assigned projects and to regularly report progress against these.
  • When applicable, to provide technical support at tender stage.
  • Where applicable, take the lead in design management and review on design and build projects.
  • Manage the construction team on assigned projects, including their recruitment, performance management, training and development.
  • Manage the allocation of trades and labour, employed and sub-contracted – ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources on assigned projects.
  • Support and ensure that objectives are planning and implemented onsite, attending audit meetings.
  • Adhere to the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Any other task commensurate with this post.
