GEDA are currently seeking to recruit Civil Site Engineer Placement Student for our sites in the Munster area. This is a great opportunity to get first-hand experience with a successful and growing company, where you will be involved with some of our Civils and Water infrastructure projects.

You will develop professionally and personally as a successful Site Engineer with an established Company that provides steady and ongoing projects in this area.

The Role:

As a Placement Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support to the Civil Engineers in the design, build, operation, and maintenance on one of our exciting projects.

Previous Experience:

  • Working towards a degree in civil engineering.
  • Student/Graduate membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
  • Full driving Licence.

The Role:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Managing sub-contractor packages through from appointment to final account.
  • Preparation of tenders, cost estimates and quotations within client deadlines.
  • Taking the lead with all commercial matters with clients.
  • The submission of all valuations and variations on schemes.
  • Providing monthly cost reports in line with project budgets.
  • Building close working relationship with Contracts Manger’s and Site teams to deliver quality projects.
  • Identifying cost issues.
  • Visit on site to view works completed, quality and management of costs.
  • Undertaking any other duties as allocated.

 

The Person:

  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise and work to meet deadlines, using your own initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • High level of Commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced office environment.

 

The Experience:

  • Third level degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • 0-2 years’ experience, ideally in housing and Commercial projects.
  • Sound estimating skills with negotiation experience of confirming, agreeing, and pricing variations.
  • Good working knowledge of construction contracts to include JCT D&B contracts.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Full driving licence.
