Kevin was a committed and professional Civil Engineer who started with Geda in 2011, he was driven and ambitious with a promising career ahead of him. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in 2015 and despite astonishing fundraising efforts of family, friends and his colleagues at Geda to raise funds to cover intensive medical treatment, Kevin sadly passed away on 3rd May 2017.
Kevin’s talent, and ability left a lasting legacy in our Company and he demonstrated great patience and interest in mentoring young engineers during his time with us. We wanted to remember Kevin in some way and felt that rewarding effort and ability in future professionals working in the construction industry would be fitting.
We wish to see all of our students thrive and develop over their placement with us and we hope they gain the professional attributes demonstrated through Kevin’s short life, so to commemorate his legacy the ‘Kevin Carey Student of the Year Award’ will be awarded to the student who demonstrates outstanding performance and commitment during their placement year at GEDA.
Good luck to all our students!
