Whitehall Primary School

Leicester City Council
Design Team:
Architect – Atkins
Civil & Structural – Curtins

Based on a phased and fast tracked programme of works the Whitehall Primary School was significantly extended whilst remaining live.

The extension incorporated 7 new classrooms, a Special Educational Needs (SEN) room, new toilet facilities that catered for nursery and primary children and circulation areas to provide much needed additional space.

Tying into the existing school building, a new structural frame was erected on traditional strip foundations, infilled with traditional cavity masonry incorporating brick façade and curtain walling and completed with a flat trocal roof.

In line with our collaborative ethos, we worked closely with Whitehall Primary School to ensure minimal disturbance throughout the works.

Mechanical and Electrical works were synchronised by our Service Coordinator to include upgrade and installation of a new fire alarm, intruder alarm, door access control, IP CCTV, period bells, disabled WC, disabled refuge, induction loop and sprinkler system.
