This scheme involved the design and construction of a new portal frame extension to the existing 2,400m2 facility.
The extension provided additional refrigerated storage, 2 doc leveller loading bays, storage areas and yard along with associated drainage attenuation. Extremely challenging ground conditions required constant dewatering and associated engineering.
The factory and distribution centre remained operational throughout the works handling up to 25 deliveries/ lorries and air freight containers a day. The site management team managed this successfully through close coordination with the business’s management staff.
Innovative means were employed to provide safe systems of work – eg at the latter stages of the contract a temporary tunnel was put in place to safely and hygienically allow movement of goods and people through the works.
