The Project involved a steel frame extension of an existing busy chicken hatchery to essentially double its size and productivity. Works packages included the installation of food safe white walling along with erection of setters and hatchers on a combination of resin bonded and dry shake floor finishes. The building remained live during the entire project duration with a phased Traffic Management Plan implemented to ensure day to day factory activity was not affected.
The main new build and refurbishment works required careful co-ordination and necessitated phased construction to allow continued operation of the hatchery building. Enabling works included the installation of temporary accommodation for Moypark staff, demolition works and formation of a temporary access road. With the front of the existing building closed off to allow the new build extension, new entry point for eggs entering and chicks leaving were created. The new build element extension was tied to the existing frame, with existing cladding and concrete slab adapted to suit. The interface between old and new needed to be carefully weathered during all stages of the works.
