Due to our continued success and growth, we have an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Environment Advisor to join our environmental team. You will play a key role, developing your skills and experience as a Graduate Environmental Advisor supporting the wider Core Business Services team.
The Role:
- Annual revision of Policies – Environmental, Sustainable Procurement, Nature and Biodiversity.
- Assistance with annual ISO 14001 internal & external audits including review of environmental legislation and environmental aspects register.
- Processing of annual carbon footprint measurements within SustainIQ software for inclusion in GEDA’s Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Implementation of sustainability initiatives that are contained within GEDA’s Climate Action Strategy.
- Conduct project environmental risk assessments & quarterly environmental audits.
- Provide advice & support to sites with environmental issues – e.g. waste duty of care compliance, consent to discharges, Considerate Constructors Scheme and BREEAM.
- Preparation of Construction Environmental Management Plans and Site Waste Management Plans.
- Environmental incident prevention, response assistance & advice.
- Preparation of presentations to assist with internal and external SHEQ meetings.
- Assistance with employee engagement initiatives e.g. training days, awareness weeks and volunteering.
- External – assistance with client requests, Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey, Science-Based Targets Initiative, EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment and other award submissions.
- Tender support & environmental information for internal company newsletter & social media channels.
The Person:
- Work effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about the environment but also keen to proactively develop their career within the Civil Engineering & Construction Sector.
The Experience:
- A BSc Honours degree in an Environmental discipline or equivalent.
- Previous construction experience is desirable.
- IT skills including MS Office, Word, and Excel.
- A full driving licence.
