GEDA Construction invest substantially each year in employing students from Built Environment, Quantity Surveying & Civil Engineering degree courses and helping them get the best from their work placement.
Dan Curry, originally from Oxfordshire but studying BEng Civil Engineering at Loughborough University, is on one year work placement with GEDA Construction from July 2015 to Summer 2016. Dan says:
“I believe my placement with Geda Construction has been extremely beneficial and has allowed me to develop my understanding of many aspects of the construction industry. I have undertaken the role of a site engineer which has allowed me to use my theoretical civil engineering knowledge in a practical environment. I also have the role of site supervisor where I have been responsible for ordering materials, quality control and the day-to-day running of site. This experience has been useful as it’s allowed me to gain an insight on the managerial side of things. I’ve found the Geda staff easy to get along with and have been impressed by how even the partners of the company make the effort to meet you and get to know you on a personal level. I would recommend carrying out a year placement with Geda for anyone looking to gain hands on experience in civil engineering or construction management.”
