GEDA Construction has been named ‘Construction Company of the Year’ at the annual Plant & Civil Engineer’s ‘Plant, Construction & Quarry’ Awards 2015.

The company was presented with the much coveted award, sponsored by Close Brothers Commercial Finance, at a glittering ceremony at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.

With more than three decades of delivering specialist civil engineering and construction projects, the company has developed a strong and award winning reputation in delivering complex water utility infrastructure such as WwTWs, pipelines and reservoirs. It has also gained a solid and widely recognised reputation in building eco homes.

Commented the awards judges: “GEDA is a company that blends expertise with high end sustainable construction.  Through investing in the skills and expertise of their staff, they are able to work closely with clients, designers and stakeholders to enhance the project brief and develop innovative ideas that help deliver sustainable, energy efficient and cost effective solutions.”

Notable past projects include the Bushmills / Portballintrae WwTW and pipelines scheme which won the Utilities Category in the CEF Excellence in Construction Awards.

Another is the Strabane Household Recycling Centre which involved extensive site clearance, demolition of an existing agricultural building, cut/fill bulk earthworks and the construction of steel framed buildings including office accommodation, a large mechanical workshop and a waste transfer building.

Works also included construction of concrete & modular block retaining walls, realignment and upgrade of external public access road, street lighting, CCTV system, installation of drainage and sewerage systems, diversion of existing services including overhead and underground NIE, BT and NIW infrastructures extensive landscaping and all associated mechanical and electrical works.

With 14 separate categories, the annual ‘Plant, Construction & Quarry’ awards, organised by the Hillsborough based publishers of Plant & Civil Engineer magazine, 4SM (NI) Ltd., is regarded as the premier event in the Plant, Construction and Quarry calendar, attracting entries, support and sponsorship from all the leading players in the industry.
